We are living through an extraordinary moment in human history. Never have so many people had so many ways to speak. Yet visibility can be uneven, attention can be scarce, and too many people have come to believe that their ideas are better left unsaid.
01. WE REFUSE THE SILENCE.
Don't shadowban yourself. Don't pre-reject your own point of view because it may be unpopular, imperfect or overlooked. The question you almost didn't ask might be the one that opens a door. The small observation you almost didn't publish might be what helps someone else understand the world.
Not every thought will change history. But every serious contribution is a chance to add something to our shared understanding.
02. THE RIGHT TO HEAR IS PART OF THE RIGHT TO SPEAK.
Expression needs listeners. Cognitive liberty includes the freedom to seek, compare, test and consider ideas, even ideas we reject. Listening does not mean agreement. Disagreement does not mean erasure.
We want a culture where curiosity is stronger than reflexive dismissal and where reasoned argument has more room than a feed engineered only for easy applause.
03. ALGORITHMS MUST BE ACCOUNTABLE.
Feeds and search rankings shape what gets discovered. Platforms can enforce clear rules against harassment, threats, impersonation and spam without quietly burying lawful perspectives because they are inconvenient. When content is limited under a rule, the contributor should be told what happened, why, and how to challenge an error.
We reject viewpoint-based shadow suppression. We also recognize a crucial distinction: no platform can guarantee every voice an audience, and not every low-reach post has been shadowbanned. Transparency, consistent rules and meaningful appeal are the standard we ask for.
04. HUMAN KNOWLEDGE NEEDS HUMAN PRESENCE.
When fewer people contribute, the public record narrows. Missing voices mean missing examples, local histories, personal insights, critical questions, languages, perspectives and dissenting explanations.
That matters to readers today. It may matter to tomorrow's AI systems too, because knowledge-retrieval and training pipelines depend on the information made available to them. No single post is guaranteed to enter an AI model, but the wider archive of public contributions affects what the future can encounter.
05. THE INVITATION IS SIMPLE.
Write the paragraph. Publish the lesson. Record the oral history. Explain the problem. Correct a mistake. Invite a rebuttal. Respond with evidence. Teach someone what you know. Credit the person who helped you understand.
We are not asking for everyone to think alike. We are asking everyone to keep thinking together, out loud.
COGNITIVE LIBERTY IS THE RIGHT TO HEAR AND BE HEARD.
DON'T SHADOWBAN YOURSELF.
